Have you ever thought about how something as simple as a computer can change a life?

At Loaves, Fishes, and Computers (LFC), that belief is at the heart of everything we do. What started with a single donated computer has grown into a mission that turned into over 15,000 going out into the community. We offer weekly digital literacy classes helping people build skills, confidence, and new opportunities. Building something bigger from something small.

But the need for organizations like ours is growing.

We live in a world driven by constant upgrades and fast consumption. In the U.S. alone, billions of dollars are spent each year on new technology, while millions of pounds of electronic waste end up in landfills. We’re often told to replace instead of repair, to buy instead of reuse.

That’s where LFC makes a difference bringing solutions for these issues here in Monterey County.

By refurbishing donated computers, promoting reuse, and providing education, we’re not just reducing waste-we’re creating access. Closing the digital divide. We’re turning what could be discarded into something meaningful for someone else.

And none of it would be possible without the support of our donors and volunteers.

This May, we’re continuing that impact through our “Women of Innovation” campaign, celebrating women who have stepped out of their comfort zone to grow their digital skills through LFC.

We’re also rolling into our Spring Cleaning Campaign, which is the perfect time to donate any old tech you’ve been holding onto.

Because sometimes, real change starts with something small-like one donated computer.
