Current Openings at LFC

Executive Director:

LFC is seeking an Executive Director who will supervise LFC’s comprehensive administrative, financial, fundraising, and programmatic responsibilities, working with our staff and the Board of Directors. Our 5,500 square foot facility is located in downtown Salinas. The LFC offices are open Mondays (for staff), and Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00-4:00 to serve clients.

 

The Executive Director will be responsible for the following duties: 

Manage 3 Key Departments: 

  1. Digital Literacy which includes workshops, classes, and programs.  

  2. Refurbishing, Repair, and Technical Support which refurbishes low-and-no cost computers, low-cost repairs, and technical assistance for our clients.

  3. Administrative Operations, which includes budget management & forecasting, cash flow, spending, reports, and staff oversight and evaluations.  

 

Three competent managers lead each of these departments and report directly to the ED. Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Generating Revenue Sources—Donor, Sponsor and Fundraising which includes maintaining relationships with existing and creating new donors and sponsors, collaborating with our grant writer, developing, and managing partnerships and securing contracts from non-profit and for-profit organizations, and overseeing LFC’s computer sales and repair income sources. 

  • Working with the staff and Board to manage and fulfill all grant related projects, initiatives, contractual obligations, deliverables, and reporting requirements.

  • Representing LFC by creating and/or participating in External Events, interacting with the Media, public officials, and others.  

  • Overseeing Human Resources, which includes payroll, staff management and staff evaluations, and LFC’s multicultural and age diverse volunteers. 

  • Evolving into a donor and fundraising development responsibility

  • Fulfilling our mission, bylaws, and policies by working with the Board of Directors and staff. 

Intern and Volunteer Specialist:

Time Commitment: Approximately 20 to 30 hrs per week 

Pay Rate: $20 to $22/hr

Schedule: Flexible Schedule to be determined

Tuesday - Saturday (Flex hours to be determined)

9:00 am to 5:00 pm (with Saturdays, occasional evenings, occasional Mondays, and some weekends required)

The Intern and Volunteer Specialist (IVS) is a new interdepartmental position at LFC in charge of coordinating all of LFC’s internship and volunteer programs with each of LFC’s three departmental leads. Responsibilities include: oversight and reporting on LFC volunteer and intern programs; collaborate with LFC’s three key leads in Digital Literacy, Technical Operations (including Refurbishing, Repair, and Tech Support), and Organizational Administration. The IVS will maintain and grow existing internship and volunteer programs with local organizations, including colleges and high schools. There may be opportunities to build new partnership programs for LFC in the future. IVS will continue to build on programs with MPC and other institutions (such as Hartnell, CSUMB, Marina Education Center, and the Veterans’ Transition Center). The IVS is also responsible for planning and executing Volunteer Appreciation events and other duties as needed.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the department leads to determine the organizational and departmental needs for volunteers and interns on an ongoing basis.

  2. Oversee the recruitment and performance of LFC volunteers and interns to meet organizational and departmental needs.

  3. Attend local events to share LFC’s services and opportunities, continue building current relationships and current programs.

  4. Working with the Executive Director and department leads, serve as the primary point of contact with the community for LFC’s internship and volunteer programs. 

  5. Provide short weekly updates to each department lead and monthly reports on internship and volunteer activities to LFC’s Executive Director.

  6. Implement and update LFC’s volunteer and intern reporting systems. 

  7. Maintain and update LFC's volunteer reporting system and database (including sign-up system, tracking needs and commitments, and LFC’s volunteer handbook).

  8. Plan, organize, and promote volunteer- and internship-focused events (including site selection, logistical arrangements, and purchasing).

  9. Other administrative and management duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements- Experience, Abilities & Skills: 

  1. Bi-lingual is required (Read/Write Spanish and English). 

  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  3. Demonstrate organizational and management skills. 

  4. Prior work experience in a non-profit organization or school is preferred. 

  5. Fluency with Microsoft Office, Printers, Phones, Filing, Scheduling, Google Suite, and general administrative work. 

  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also as a collaborative team member, with initiative and follow-through. 

  7. Current driver's license and ability to drive across Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties to provide services and outreach. 

  8. Familiarity with Monterey County and its demographics are a strong plus.

  9. Dedication to the social and economic equity mission of LFC.
